You deserve rounds tonight.

"Shout out to Heben!" "Shout out to 'The Tracy'!"


If you recognize those salutations, or the classic "Drink some water. Take your meds. Call your person", you, like me, were a regular listener of Another Round with Heben & Tracy.


Maybe you got some clutch advice from Stacey's Career Corner. Maybe you considered going to therapy for the first time, or stopped feeling weird about naming your depression and/or anxiety. Maybe you listened just in time to hear Tracy ask Hillary Clinton whether she ever thought she "Fucked things up for black people." Maybe you just really liked the sounds of ice clinking in their bourbon. Whatever it was, you loved the show and miss them very much. So do I.


I could use some more of the Another Round Podcast in 2019.


The good news is, the pod-squad is still out here, and their new podcasts each have some piece of what I loved about Another Round.




I'm going to assume your already know about Heben and Tracy's solo podcasts, Dream It Real and Strong Black Legends. That's too obvious.

Self-Care Tips and Down to Earth Advice

Julia Furlan is over at NPR's Life Kit. My favorite series of the show is How To Make Friends. Since Furlan was a beloved pod-mom on the AR, it features segments that feel soothing in the same down-to-earth vein as Another Round. There are interviews with smart people. There are laughs. There are no drinks or sounds of ice clinking but that's ok.




Relatable Friend Banter and Immigrant-Kid Feels

Jenny Yang and April Korto Quioh have sweet chemistry in the show which includes a segment on their struggle of the week (Ex. Being lowkey addicted to online shopping and thinking buying a cute sweater is gonna solve your problems). And you can hear Another Round pod-mom Jenna Weiss-Berman and former intern Agerensh Ashagre's production all over A Little Forward, Pineapple Street Media and Freeform's podcast baby. Episode 1.03. A Little...Money with Ashley C. Ford was killer to me. Ok and, yes, so was Tracy makes an appearance on episode 1.07 that may or may not have inspired me to make this list, because it made me realize Another Round made a lane and squad that exists beyond the show, and we can still access it. We deserve.


I hope to add to this list as I discover and listen to shows and of course, I'm still hoping for the return of the show, with most of the same cast of characters. In the meantime, I hope this helps you like it helped me.
